Community rules

▍ ❝  1. AGE REQUIREMENT.
Members of Echelons of Etheirys must be above 21 years old both in and out of character to be a member of the community. If you are found to be under 21, you will be removed from the community and banned permanently.▍ ❝   2. SFW SERVER.
We have optional NSFW sections for individuals who want to engage in NSFW and explicit topics. That means that NSFW should only be in the NSFW section, period. We enforce a 1-strike rule, where you will receive one warning for NSFW content. If further infractions occur, you will be banned.▍ ❝   3. TRIGGER WARNING/SPOILER POLICY.
Please be sure to trigger warn and spoil content that may be triggering, even in NSFW spaces. This involves drugs/mind-altering substances, kinks, violence, etc. Extreme / heavy kinks should at no point be referenced or shared in the Discord. Violation of this rule may serve as your NSFW strike.▍ ❝   4. INCLUSIVITY.
Many people have different ideologies or backgrounds/life experiences than you. This isn't the place for heavy topics (politics and controversial events), including politically charged content where others can see it, such as your icon, header, or other parts of your public facing profile. Take it to DM’s, and listen when people tell you to drop a topic.

▍ ❝   5. BIGOTRY & HATEFILNESS.
Respect everyone; be kind to each other and be civil. Disrespect of community members may result in a ban. This includes bullying, kinkshaming, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, and so on. This includes derogatory statements or jokes regarding the creative decisions of others. Furthermore, if another individual asks you to stop making comments/jokes of any kind, you will abide by their request.▍ ❝   6. LORE ADJACENT.
FFXIV has a plethora of lore to weave through, with many delightful holes in it to worldbuild things for yourself. Hence why we are lore-adjacent, but not strictly adherent to it. That being said, we ask that our members at least keep their characters and stories attached to the lore. If you have questions about the lore, or are unfamiliar with it, feel free to ask questions in our lore channel!▍ ❝   7. META-GAMING/GODMODING/POWER LEVELS.
Your character should not be an all-powerful Godkiller with no flaws. Your character should have a reasonable power level given the setting that they are in.▍ ❝   7. OBTAIN CONSENT.
For both IC and OOC, consent is of importance. You should always make sure you request consent for situations such as, but not limited to, causing any sort of in-character drama or conflict, mentioning or discussing triggering content during roleplay and sharing pieces of / screenshots of Roleplay or conversations that happen outside the server or outside of EoE events (Private messages with individuals not in the server should remain private, and not be shared).

About EoE

Echelons of Etheirys is a Discord-based community in FFXIV's Crystal Datacenter, for 'regency-themed' RP. Specifically, this refers to roleplay in FFXIV that deals with the pomp and circumstance of society and political/social intrigue. These themes encapsulate societies and politics from across the star! We cast a wide net with our networks and events with a focus on common themes in the regency genre.

What are Regency themes?

Many of these classic Regency writers are associated with Romanticism, which is an artistic and intellectual movement that originated in Western Europe in the late 18th century. Romanticism expressed a revolt against the aristocratic, social, and political norms of the Enlightenment period which preceded it. Works during this period stressed strong emotion as a source of aesthetic experience, placing new emphasis on such emotions as anxiety, horror and the ae experienced when confronting the sublimity of nature. All of these themes are evident in the best known classic regency works.Common themes are social mores, social class and class conflict, romance, witty-conversation, societal propriety, a focus on marriage, gossip / misunderstandings, networking and connection making, and attention to fashion and manners.If you think your character fits these themes, then you are welcome to join!

What to Expect .

  • Emphasis and focus on political and social intrigue.

  • Themes of societal standing and societal expectation / pressure.

  • Events that cater to lore-adjacent, low level power in a Regency / Romantic fantasy setting.

  • Occasional events, focus, and themes of combat (ie. dragonslaying, jousts, tournaments, etc.) and war.

  • In-depth, complex connections and storylines with other roleplayers.

  • Like-minded storytellers familiar with regency and other historic/period-adjacent themes.

What Not to Expect .

  • Heavy emphasis on sexual / fetish / NSFW themes.

  • Frequent grand-scale combat scenes and events.

  • Focus on modern and sci-fi settings, ex. night clubs and robotics.

  • Frequent presence of heavy / intense crime, drugs, prostitution, or similar extreme themes.

  • Extremely 'beginner-friendly' scenarios that require no knowledge of roleplay structure or etiquette.

  • Mentors that will do the 'heavy-lifting' for your story (character development, understanding the niche, etc).

What sort of roleplay does the community foster?

'Regency' Rp, or roleplaying the intrigue and daily lives of members of a specific society. Of course, what probably leaps to mind is Ishgardian's nobility, but that is not the only 'Society' in Hydaelyn we recognize. Sharlayan nobility of 'old families,' Kugane and Doma nobles and their samurai attendants, the Khans and their warriors of the Steppe, the once proud politicians and noble families of Garlemald, the Monetarists of Ul'dah and the old families of Gridania, the successful moguls of pirate captains in Limsa Lominsa are all prime examples of potential good fits of Regency Roleplay.But what about characters without noble ties? Society requires a myriad of facets. While the servants and devotees of various noble or high-society personages have their clear place at their respective patron's side, a major theme of Regency roleplay is a focus on making good connections. And if your character is a ronin, a wandering sellsword, or a tradesman or artisan looking for a patron with deep pockets, you might find networking opportunities with people looking for such connections for their character.

Within the Lavender Beds of the Twelveswood, with a cliffside at its back and a flowing stream beneath the small bridge that marks its entrance is nestled a large mansion with a finely manicured yard in the fifth ward Lavender Northeast subdivision. Once housing a rowdy free company of adventurers many summers ago, it now serves as the site of the Shroudrose Teahouse and Speakeasy, a teahouse and upscale bar and lounge serving everything from specialty tea blends, to a wide array of spirits and cocktails, to light meals and snacks both sweet and savory.Carrd

Gallery Figaro is a not-for-profit art and naturalia gallery based out of Ishgard proper. Inspired by curiosity cabinets and private galleries during the Baroque period, this RP venue combines the mysterious, sacred, profane, and classical with the wonders of FFXIV.'After extensive renovations, donations, and transfer of ownership to a board of trustees, the mansion has since reopened, and adopted the moniker as Gallery Figaro.'Carrd
